New Braunfels Works
I completed my internship at New Braunfels Works which is an organization inside of the New Braunfels Food Bank. The mission of New Braunfels Works is to fight the unemployment and underemployment in the community it serves. It is a workforce initiative that works with its clients to provide one-on-one case management, client development, and free monthly classes aimed toward greater knowledge in job readiness. Through client development, New Braunfels Works aids in resume, cover letter, and reference page improvements, provides job leads, helps with online job applications, and any job related assistance that can be provided.
I assisted clients from many different demographics at New Braunfels Works. I helped with everything from the initial greeting of a client, providing an overview of our resources, to case management and client development. I reached out to clients in order to schedule appointments, update them on our monthly classes, and for grant information. I also collected information from clients through pre-surveys and post-surveys to evaluate how we can help them as well as to provide us information for our grant. Being a largely grant funded organization, I was held responsible for data entry that provided information for the grant measures which keep the organization running. A lot of volunteers give their time at New Braunfels Works, so I was given the responsibility to delegate tasks to volunteers as well as decide which volunteer could adequately help the incoming client. It can be such a humbling experience to help those in need and to eventually find out you have helped someone find employment.
